There’ll be a unique demonstration by herbs expert Jan Greenland entitled Tussie-Mussies And Nosegays….come along to find out more! There are craft stalls, too selling unusual and beautiful gifts.

The second session is ideal for those who attended Session One or have made felt before and want to develop their skills, using plastic resists and moulds to create beautiful three-dimensional shapes and a bowl to take home.
Each session costs £20 per person, with all wool provided. These workshops fill up very quickly, so contact Hat Works reception on 355 7770 now to book your place!

 Exhibition
The fuss about feathers

The Fuss About Feathers at Hat Works, from 4 July to 1 November, focuses on the late 1800s and early 1900s, when hats suddenly became enormous and feathers were used as a weapon in a woman’s battle for millinery superiority. Discover the endangered species of birds which were previously used in the hat industry, in contrast to the feathers used by today’s milliners. Find out how The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds was formed by those against the destruction of birds for hat fashions. The exhibition displays hats from the last century which reflect the popularity and excitement that once surrounded feathers in fashion, and showcases some new headpieces from current milliners who use feathers as inspiration for their work.
Nessa Cronin, one of Ireland's best known milliners, will be displaying some of her feather-featuring headpieces, as part of the exhibition, from 8 July to 24 September.
There are activities for all the family within this fun and informative display.
